CPN is happy to welcome two new staffers to our team! Rachel Kline will be assisting with programming while Stephen Reed will serve in our development and communications initiatives. Here’s a little background about them. Greet them if you see them at the office or out in the field!
Rachel Kline
Rachel comes to us from AmeriCorps VISTA for the year. She graduated twice from The Ohio State University, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 2022 and her Master of Social Work in 2023. Growing up, Rachel attended public schools with diverse student populations and noticed disparities in the educational opportunities provided to her peers.
Rachel teaches students in our Neighborhood how to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom through leadership initiatives, social-emotional learning, and capacity building.
In her spare time, you can find Rachel with family and friends or hunting for shark teeth on Folly Beach. She will never say no to a buffalo chicken pizza or some New York style cheesecake!
Stephen Reed
For twenty-five years, Stephen has worked to combine his professional interests in Communications and Development.
For example, his position as News Director at Washington and Lee University reported to the VP for Advancement, and he served both as Grants and Foundations Specialist and Podcaster for Prison Fellowship, a national nonprofit in Greater D.C. Additionally, he was a Feasibility Study and Communications Consultant for Atlanta-based Convergent Nonprofit Solutions in Atlanta.
Stephen has a B.A. in history and English, along with a J.D., from West Virginia University. Also, he earned his M.Div. from Emory University.
Stephen is a history buff and enjoys travel. He, his wife, Leni, and 7-year-old son, Ethan, enjoy flying kites on any of our local beaches here in Charleston.
